How to add a Non-Standard CPT Code

How to add a Non-Standard CPT Code

Question-

How do I enter a custom or non-standard CPT code to use in my practice?

Answer-

If the CPT is not a standard CPT that can be found in the yearly CPT publication, then you can add it in as a Non-Standard CPT.

Note: You must be an "Account Manager" user role in the ‘PracticeAdmin’ system to perform this task. If you do not have access to the Setup tab on the ‘PracticeAdmin’ Practice Manager website, please forward these instructions to a Practice Manager.

  1. Login to PracticeAdmin

  2. Click on the ‘Setup’ tab”

  3. Click on ‘CPT Codes’ from the Menu line

  4. Scroll down the page to the Non-Standard Practice CPTs section.

  5. Click on ‘Add’ and Enter a six-digit, alpha-numeric code, enter a description, be sure "Active" is checked

  6. Click on ‘Update ‘ to save the code

  7. Repeat for additional non-standard CPT codes.

To see this new non-standard code in PA Billing, select "CPT List" from the Update Client Cache menu. This will refresh the CPT list used when entering claims.

Please note that you will need to enter the charge amount manually or update your fee schedule to include an amount for the new non-standard CPT code.
