End of Support for Microsoft Windows 7

End of Support for Microsoft Windows 7

End of Support for Microsoft Windows 7
As of 31 January 2020, we no longer support the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. This means that, for PracticeAdmin software releases after January 2020, some features may not work for Windows 7 users. In addition, defects or performance issues that appear only when using Windows 7 will not be investigated or fixed by PracticeAdmin. This End of Support notice applies to any future releases of our software, including  ProviderSuite, Receivables, Billing, Scheduling, and Connect.

Why did we end support for Windows 7?
There are two primary reasons - age of the technology and support.
  • Windows 7 was first released in October 2009. Microsoft has released three new operating systems since then (Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10).
  • Mainstream support for Windows 7 ended in January 2015 and Microsoft ended extended support in January 2020.

If I'm still using Windows 7, what should I do?
You should upgrade to the appropriate Microsoft Windows operating system based on your computer hardware specifications and the recommendation of your I.T. adviser. PracticeAdmin currently supports Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional and Windows 10.

What will happen if I take no action?
While users may still be able to access the ProviderSuite Web App and associated applets using Windows 7 for releases after January 2020, some new and existing features may no longer work using that operating system. In addition, defects or performance issues that appear only when using Windows 7 will not be investigated or fixed by PracticeAdmin.

I'm already using Windows 8 or higher and Chrome, IE11, or Edge browsers. Do I need to do anything?
No - you're all set.

How can I get more information?
Our list of currently supported operating systems and browsers can be found on our web site. PracticeAdmin Support is available to answer any questions you may have about this announcement at 678-269-4780, option 1.
